Description
The winter of 2010/2011 experienced record snowfall in Rocky Mountain National Park, which in turn produced one of the most breathtaking summers for wildflowers. In July, wildflowers could be found at 9,000 feet or so, then in August, at 10,000 ft, then September at 11,000 ft. This picture was taken in October, at around 11,500 ft, near Crystal Lakes, about 8-miles from the Lawn Lake trail head. Id' actually made a mistake and turned onto the Crystal Lakes trail by accident, on my way to The Saddle to summit Hague's Peak.
