The hike to the overlook for Grand Prismatic Spring was well worth the effort. The trail was solid ice in places, and I came back down part of it on my behind, deliberately, as it was much safer. Grand Prismatic is like an eye of blue, surrounded by rays of rust, which are actually microbial mats, and the colors come from the bacteria that live in them. A truly stunning spectacle of nature.
